Though I haven't posted there in forever, I still read what friends write. The changes at LJ mean many people seem to be moving over here, so I've created an account. Add me if I know you IRL.

ETA: Importing my old LJ entries is taking forever. Once that's done I'll start the process of deleting that account.

900 dollar room in my amazing flat
I still am looking for a housemate. There are six billion people on this earth, and I only need the right single individual to move in to my house. Know anyone? Gender is not important. Neither is age. Good communication and boundaries, compatibility is mui importante. Please send this around!

On the twelfth day of Christmas, kryscat sent to me...
Twelve museums snuggling
Eleven parasols wandering
Ten candles a-cuddling
Nine backrubs baking
Eight thunderstorms a-reading
Seven books a-sleeping
Six games a-flirting
Five bre-e-e-ead makers
Four victorian boots
Three good books
Two hot tubs
...and a heliophobia in an ancient history.

cameras

So, our digital camera has been eating batteries at an absurd rate, which means that when I pull it out to try to take a picture of the little one, I'm likely to be thwarted. My plan is to put "digital camera" on the xmas list for the folks to purchase, but I need to tell them *exactly* what to get, or we'll end up with something huge & unwieldy. Looking for recommendations here. What we need is something small, really easy to use, and easy to use quickly to catch whatever moment needs to be immortalized, preferably something that can take little movies (first steps?), and is not too horrifically expensive. Links to actual products would be muchly appreciated, so that I don't end up sifting through bazillions of different models wondering, "is *this* the one s/he was talking about?"

Secondly, does anyone have a digital camera we could borrow for the next couple of months? Doesn't have to be super-spiffy, just functional to take pics & put them up for the grandparents to see. Many thanks!

Covenant

Who's going to Covenant tonight at the DNA? I'll be there, and Rob will be heading to DG tomorrow, since I've been going most weeks.

Our connection problems seem to've solved themselves, which is both good and bad, since it's not clear what was wrong in the first place. Hopefully it just stays fixed, but we'll see.

Our connection seems to be mostly out, and our landline is disconnected at the moment. Just in case you need to reach us. Try cell if something's urgent.

Particularly important for us with the new babe, since *she* really ought not to get sick if we can help it. If you're planning to hang out around babies this flu season, go get your shot!

Tonight I'm babysitting. I've got Phaedra while Rob's out, possibly at Substance or maybe at the Cracktory (he wasn't sure when he left the house), but I'm also looking after Galen (5 months old) for Alex & Kelly so that they could go to the Lee Press On & the Nails show at the DNA. They're both sleeping next to me, Phaedra in her Amby (hammock-crib-thingie), Galen in his car seat. Galen was very awake for the first bit, got a bit cranky & tired, and then passed out rather suddenly while I was bouncing him on my knee.

Phaedra had a doctor appt yesterday. For all of you who asked on Thurs, she was 11 lbs & 10 oz, 23 inches. She got 3 shots (vaccinations). Unhappy baby. :( She was kind of off all of yesterday, didn't eat as much (meaning I felt like I was about to pop for much of the evening & night), and made up for it today by wanting to eat all the time. Tired Krys.

Last night I went to the DNA for Meat vs. Death Guild (variously referred to as "Meat Guild" or "Dead Meat"), which was fun. Danced to a few songs and saw a bunch of people (including [livejournal.com profile] beckastar, [livejournal.com profile] threadwalker, [livejournal.com profile] soulrefraction, [livejournal.com profile] arborvitae, [livejournal.com profile] uloixia, [livejournal.com profile] baconmonkey, [livejournal.com profile] bodyfour, [livejournal.com profile] chainlynx, [livejournal.com profile] danarama, [livejournal.com profile] dazzlynn, [livejournal.com profile] dr_gluck_, [livejournal.com profile] joeradio, [livejournal.com profile] kildareflame, [livejournal.com profile] netik, [livejournal.com profile] ousel, [livejournal.com profile] pyrokitten_mew, [livejournal.com profile] theonlyruth, [livejournal.com profile] waffen & [livejournal.com profile] yosh among others). The first time I'd been back to DNA in a LONG time. My policy while inhabited by Phaedra was not to go to venues where I'd require earplugs, on the principle that hearing loss should be consensual. Got a ride home from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] beckastar, who'd also brought over a dinner for me earlier in the day.

Enough for now. Hope you all enjoyed your Saturday evening activities...

I'm home tonight, since Rob hasn't gotten to go to DG in 8 weeks or so. I figure that I'll probably go to Meat Guild on Friday. Who's going?

Today was my brother's birthday, so we went to Rasoa for Indian food. Phaedra was passed out the whole time, which was good. We've hit on the strategy of carrying her to the restaurant in the car seat, since the rocking motion puts her to sleep and then we don't have to transfer her into it which always wakes her up. The one time I took her in the Snugli carrier and xfered her to the seat at the restaurant involved much more work and 2 feedings. Dinner was good, btw, and it's good to get out of the house.

That's it for now. Enough of this one-handed typing thing...

Several parties ago, quite a few of you were interested in the Burning Man camp of a friend of mine. It's called Goth Scouts. If you want to know more, go look at the tribe he's created for the camp: http://tribes.tribe.net/gothscouts

If you want to know more but have something against tribe.net, let me know and I'll pass along his email addy to you...

EDIT: I've been corrected. It's not actually a camp, just a "project". Brian gets uniforms and patches and stuff and then you run around being silly. Oh, and there are Goth Scout Cookies, which I'm assured do *not* contain real Goth Scouts...
