[travel] the 'rents place
Dec. 22nd, 2005 02:46 amYup, made it to NJ today via the expedient of paying more money for the train. We did go through Penn Station in Manhattan, just didn't have to get off and deal with any irate commuters. Seeing as how we were going through there close to rush hour, I was not unhappy about this.
So the train continued on to Penn Station in *Newark* where we were greeted by chaos and traffic snarls, as it seemed that half the world was waiting to pick someone up from the station. My parents were trapped somewhere a couple of blocks back in the pack, but we were eventually united and loaded into the car. Off to dinner, which was not very good, as the restaurant my parents wanted to go to couldn't be found and we ended up picking semi-randomly.
Then back here, where we were enlisted to do reams and reams of data entry for my parents (yeah, it really needs to be done and they're not computer-competent enough to do it). After some chatting we set to it and they went off to sleep. Data entry's not really high on my list of "things I'd love to do over the holidays," but we've made a start on it, though it's barely a dent in the pile.
Got some knitting done on the train. I think that's been the highlight of the day so far. Oh and the nice, hot shower I just took. I think I'm going to become more horizontal and do a bit more knitting...
