kryscatXmas #2 went reasonably well. Present rituals were performed, meals consumed, stories told. I temporarily rescued the step-mother-in-law from a recounting of her driving mishaps by telling the story of the famous pie (which many of you are familiar with). Everyone wants to know about the new place. No big conflicts or dramas. We don't have all that much in common with them, but we all avoid the politics and religion discussions for the most part, and coexist reasonably peacefully.
Tomorrow we're going back up to my parents' place for a day or so. The plan is for us "kids" to take my mom out for her birthday, as her 60th (shhhhh, don't tell anyone) is on Jan 11th. She's apparently picked some seafood place in NYC to go to and the reservations have been made.
