Home, at last

Quite a bumpy flight, but we made it. There was a woman in the row behind us who kept saying things like, "Oh my God..." I don't think she was helped much when the captain told the flight attendants to prepare for landing, but stay in their seats, leading one of them to come on the PA and tell us to put our seatbacks up, etc. Oh, and in the event of an emergency landing, don't try to take any carry-on items with you when leaving the plane...

The new years party was good, though smaller than in previous years. Apparently, the "badger the invitees to send RSVPs" step was skipped this year, plus it was held in a somewhat more remote location. Good to see people (including [livejournal.com profile] sbtorpey, [livejournal.com profile] shabet, [livejournal.com profile] anemone, [livejournal.com profile] fanlain, [livejournal.com profile] hukuma, [livejournal.com profile] oddthink and [livejournal.com profile] surpheon, among others). Not much sleep, but that's to be expected.

I had a pretty good year in 2005, though I've been hesitant to express that. The VAST majority of entries on the subject that I've seen on here have been overwhelmingly negative. I hope all of you have a better year this year than the last.

That's an awesome announcement!! I know it was bumpy, but my flight-attendant friend from United tells me that sometimes the pilots announce that it's too bumpy for inflight service just to give the flight attendnnts a break on certain holidays (hmmm, like New Years?) Glad you made it back ok.

i hear that kind of announcement i just shut my eyes and go to sleep and figure well i'm gonna die anyways. that and shove all my valuables into my pants and pockets and stuff :)

2005 wasn't a bad year for me. more a transitional/transformational year for me :) i know 2006 is going to be much better. hope yours is too :)

so many frigging smilies

You know being told "in the event of an emergency landing, don't try to take any carry-on items with you when leaving the plane" would make me bloody nervous too if the flight had been rather bumpy.

I for one would welcome seeing a postive post about the past year. I was going to avoid doing one myself since it would probably be of the negative variety but really it would just be boring since all I've been doing is school. Although the positive way I've been looking at my life right now is the fact that it can only get better in this new year. I'm quite hopefull that this year will be a good one for me despite all the crap that led up to the new year.

Since you haven't said anything to the contrary, I take it the house is still intact? (Whew!) Enjoy being in it!

Welcome back : )

And since you had a good year in 2005, the best wish for 2006 is for it to be even better!

I think I'm going to be a homebody tonight : (

Later in the week, though, I'll need to get my dose of loud music and blinky lights.

Oddly, that was the same announcement on my plane (at 11.30).

And it was a bit bumpy, but not as bad as advertized. The missing BART once I landed, *that* was scary (and expensive!).

*psssst* I like 2005, too. Don't tell, though.

Welcome back and Happy New Year!
